Rue-La-La is an “invitation only” high fashion discount shopping service. Once you’ve registered, you’ll receive exclusive daily offers sent right to your inbox and then it’s up to you to spend, spend, spend until you’re totally fabulous and/or fierce.
Well, by happy happenstance, today’s exclusive offer was headlined by two Brand Labs’ clients: Madison Avenue Couture and Lois Hill. Both new store designs are still in progress, so we can’t link you to them, but trust us when we say they’re both fabulous and fierce.
It’s always exciting to see a client featured in another outlet (unless it’s on COPS or 60 Minutes) so today we’re doubly pleased.
Hearkening back to another era (or to the Hogwart’s Express), Fast Tracks (to be found at handlaidtrack.com) is like a beautiful dream of days gone by. Its rich, dark tones and art deco styling make us want to build a giant table in our basement and fill it with hundreds of intertwining tracks and tunnels and little switching stations with tiny, little railway workers and itty-bitty cows and bottle brush trees and all that other awesome stuff… but our wife won’t let us.
So for all of your model railroading needs, be sure to visit Fast Track’s fantastic Volusion store.
We’re jumping the gun a bit on this one, but it’s super sunny today so we just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to talk about Solar Geek Living’s new Volusion store.
Granted, it’s not fully merchandised (unless you’re looking to stock up on some lorem ipsum) but even now you can begin to get an idea of the full range of alternative energy products that will soon be available at Solar Geek.
We also designed and implemented their blog. Again, it’s not quite ready for its national debut, but, like we said, the summer sun’s got us thinking solar, so we thought we’d pass it along.
Our chosen charity, One Laptop Per Child, has focused a good portion of their efforts on Rwanda, both because it represents a worst-case-scenario and because its president has embraced the program to a degree unmatched by other heads of state. Because of this concentrated effort, OLPC is hoping to see an effect that stretches beyond the schoolhouse and into the economy at large.
“The President wants to make Rwanda a technology and services hub — another tall order considering that just 7% of the country’s 11 million people currently have electricity. And that, curiously enough, is where the laptops come in. He and OLPC proponents hope the computers will both teach the students the language of technology and offer them a way to chase down simple information they lack but which kids in rich nations take for granted. According to the government’s vision, the laptop will be the engine for the spread of electricity and Internet across the country…”
We’re proud to be a part of such a noble effort. If you’d like to join in, you can contribute by visiting the OLPC donation page.
Every shopping cart has default checkout process graphics (the “cart – checkout – receipt” icons at the top of the page during the checkout process) and there are literally bazillions of free icons available all over the interwebs for those who want to customize the process a little. However, there is a certain type of compulsive design nerd for whom that simply isn’t enough. For those poor souls, every element of every site must be designed from scratch. That compulsive attention to detail is exactly what we look for in a designer and our clients get to reap the benefits.
Take, for instance, the graphic you see above. Created for Flanigan Farms (purveyors of fruit and nuts), it isn’t anything you could ever hope to find on a stock icon site. Its non-literal interpretation of the order process is a lovely bit of storytelling and it’s exactly the kind of thing that makes a custom site so compelling.
While on the one hand, this post is most certainly an endorsement of (and advertisement for) our creative services, it’s also intended to point out that in the competitive eCommerce marketplace, you have to exploit every opportunity you have to reinforce your brand. In the end, when placed head to head with your competition, your brand is your strongest weapon. If people connect with you, they’re likelier to buy from you. Don’t squander any opportunity to distinguish yourself from the other guys.
Our latest site launch has us glowing with pride (as well awakening in us a strong desire to exploit every light-related pun, gag and play-on-words that we have in our bag of tricks – we will, however, restrain ourselves).
Lighting by Lux is the online sister store to Lux Lighting – a 20 year old institution with a 7500 square foot brick and mortar showroom in Atlanta, GA. Seventy. Five. Hundred. Square. Feet. That’s a heck of a lot of lights. Let’s put it this way: there are over 300 items in their chandelier category. That basically means that if you need a fixture and Lux doesn’t have it, you’d better start building it yourself because we’re pretty sure they carry everything that plugs in and lights up.
Our latest Volusion store launch makes us think of the part in The Godfather after Michael Corleone kills Sollozzo and McCluskey and he flees to the old country to escape the subsequent mob war – only without all of the graphic violence and moral ambiguity.
The Olive Oil Merchant stands poised to deliver only the finest Italian olive oil and specialty foods to our lucky, lucky canuckian neighbors. With their clear dedication to quality and tradition, they’re sure to bring some Mediterranean sunshine to the Great White North.
Our founders spent some time at the recent Internet Retailers Conference and Exhibition in Chicago, and a good portion of that time was spent in the company of our bestest friends at Volusion. Here you’ll see Volusion’s video recap of the event and starting at about 1:22 you can see Dane and Kevin (from left to right) talking about the future of eCommerce. Their answer is pretty lengthy just because it would be rude to say, “The future of eCommerce is Brand Labs,” before throwing some gang signs and walking off camera (which was the original plan).
We’re proud to announce our latest Volusion store launch: eUndies.com.
We’d love to give you the lowdown on the site, but the headline pretty much says it all… except that eUndies was established in 2003 and has been the goto store for cute and/or sexy underthings ever since.
Do you have brick and mortar stores in addition to your Volusion store? Are you a manufacturer (with a Volusion site) who’d like to tell your customers where to find your products in the real world? Do you have no practical use for an interactive map, but you really, really want one anyway? Well guess what, buttercup… we’re prepared to hook you up!
We’ve been doing store locators for clients for some time, but every once in a while we feel compelled to remind you of the many, many ways we can alter your Volusion store to suit your particular needs. In this latest case, BulletProofDiesel.com came to us with an existing Volusion store, but no good way to tell their online clients where they could have their products installed locally. That’s where our Volusion store locator implementation came in. Now, anyone browsing their online store will be easily able to pinpoint a local vendor, helping to seal the conversion and creating a brand new satisfied customer. It’s just that easy.
Contact us if you’re interested in a store locator for your Volusion site! We’ll be happy to help.
