Damon Wayans Becomes Least Likely Red Hatter EVER

Posted: Wednesday, May 12, 2010 in Clients, Film, Television

The Red Hat Society Store was our first client (back when they were known as Red Hats and More).  We’ve been working with them for years, but without a doubt, the release of Damon Wayans’ novel, “Red Hats”, is the most unexpected bit of Red Hat news we’ve ever come across.

Damon Wayons (most widely known as a member of the comedic dynasty that includes his brothers Shawn, Marlon and Keenan) starred in the ABC sitcom, My Wife and Kids, as well as the films “Mo’ Money” and “I’m Gonna Get You Sucka”.  It’s fair to say that with that professional history, Wayans seems the least likely person to write a novel about the Red Hat Society in the voice of an elderly woman… and yet, here we are.

Wayans is already a bestselling author for his book “Bootleg” – a collection of jokes and observations from his stand-up act, but “Red Hats” is his debut novel.  We haven’t read it yet, but from the reviews that we’ve seen, if you’re an old lady or someone who TIVOs Hallmark movies, you’ll love it.

… in related news, Dane Cook has announced that he’ll soon be releasing 7 volumes of poetry based on the works of 17th century French philosopher, René Descartes, and Dora the Explorer will be starring in an off-broadway production of David Mamet’s “Glengarry Glen Ross”.

We Love It When A Plan Comes Together

In 2010 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. The unit promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Rochester, Michigan underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as salespeople for a boutique eCommerce agency. If you have a Volusion problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them (perhaps by calling 877-837-4792), maybe you can hire the B-Team.

Best. Stamps. Ever.

Okay… we’re hitting the blog pretty hard today, but this is just irresistible. On May 7, the United States Post Office will be issuing a series of products (including stamps) to commemorate The Simpson’s 20th year. This just might be enough to make snail mail fashionable again, or, at the very least it will be an excellent way to spend 44 cents.

… yes. We’re nerds.

Get the details on the new USPS Simpsons stamps here.
