Apparently, whatever the Conficker virus was intended to do, it has begun… slowly and quietly. According to the BBC, researchers for TrendMicro discovered the recent arrival of a new file in systems infected with the virus. At this point, the purpose of the virus remains a mystery, but we have yet to hear of any direct effect on the Volusion community. If we do, we’ll let you know immediately.

With all of the hubbub about the Conficker virus and the endless speculation about its effects, we’ve been keeping a close eye on our system as well as Volusion’s. To the best of our knowledge, neither we, nor any of our customers has been affected. Frankly, it seems as though no one anywhere has yet been affected, but we understand the concern, especially for online merchants. We’ll be watching the situation and will provide any updates (should there be a need) through this blog and through our Twitter account (http://twitter.com/BrandLabsMktg). Thanks… and stay calm.
