Asking us to choose a favorite client would be like asking a parent to choose their favorite child. The suggestion alone is completely distasteful to us…
With that being said, Brand Labs is the most bestest client we’ve ever, ever had. They’re so totally awesome to work with and the entire process was an absolute pleasure. We couldn’t believe what an absolute delight they were and here’s what they had to say about us:
“Brand Labs is the best. Period. If you’re thinking of using anyone else, you’re a total dunderhead.”
Now, we don’t condone the use of antiquated Dutch insults, but they said it, not us. Anyhoo, be sure to check out the new homepage and the fancy, dynamic blog feed included therein. It’s the bestest.
Today we received a mysterious package. It was preceded by an email from one of our best customers, The Garden Gates. The email contained a riddle. It said:
Purple Green and ?
You don’t want the baby
It will make you fat
Now, we’re northerners, so it took all of our collected brainpower to figure out that the answer was a King Cake. Of course we took great pride in simply answering the riddle, not expecting to receive an edible answer delivered to our doorstep mere hours later… which, in the end, is exactly what happened.
In a box addressed to The Bad Ass Brand Labs Crew, was a traditional New Orleans King Cake (from Randazzo’s) and a note that said, “If you’re gonna roll with us… you need some Mardi Gras in ur belly. Thanks for making us the best!” Our thanks go out to Chad and the folks at The Garden Gates. You’ll be hearing from our cardiologists as soon as we rebound from our sugar comas.
… by the way, Christopher Antoin, one of the newest members of the crew, was the lucky recipient of the plastic baby Jesus (traditionally tucked into the cake), obligating him to bring in the next cake, so he’s not quite as grateful as the rest of us, but he’s new, so screw him.
Thanks again!

It’s 2010… finally. Sure, 2009 was mostly filled with suck, but hey… new calendar, new hope. So, we’re ready.
We’re ready to begin anew. We’re ready to build on what we have. We’re ready to make the best of everything and (in the process) to make everything that much better. In short, we’re rarin’ to go!
We will, however, take a moment to reflect, courtesy of a lovely email that our Marketing team received from MedNetDirect.com:
“…just wanted to say Merry Christmas and thanks for all the help this year. Much of our success has been attributed to you and the great work from everyone at Brand Labs. Please let the rest of the team and everyone we’ve worked with know we really appreciate it. We’re really looking forward to 2010…”
So are we. Now let’s get to work…

Some time back, we received some kind words from Airsoft Atlanta. As a Christmas present to ourselves, we’ve chosen to post them here:
“The site looks freakin’ awesome!! We’re very happy with it! Everyone in the company wants the new design online asap – especially if you compare it to our current site. We’re shocked you were able to put post-apocalyptic, steampunk, urban warfare, and futuristic game design all into the design! We love it! It goes perfectly with the idea we originally had in our heads.”
Now we feel the warm glow of holiday love all the way from Atlanta. Thanks, Airsoft!

Full disclosure here: Ryan Forrest, partner in Verde Lifestyles, also happens to be a member of our sales staff, but that shouldn’t matter at all because he’s a very honest young man and would never consider making any sort of untrue or misleading assertions. He’s also charming, virile and has a lovely singing voice.
With the disclaimer out of the way, we’d like to direct your attention to this post on the Verde Lifestyles blog about his experience with the latest (as yet unreleased) version of iVoloo, our iPhone-friendly Volusion store plugin. There’ll be more details later with the official release of 2.0, but we thought we’d build some buzz early on. As a matter of fact, we heard that Robert Pattinson and Ciara were totally excited about the upcoming release*.
*We have no way to confirm this because we completely made it up.

This is from a couple of months ago, but Friday afternoons are built for catching up on stuff you’ve been meaning to do for a while so…
Some time back, we designed and launched a new site for Shore Excursions Group. To say that their site and merchandising needs were complicated would be a fantastic understatement. As a matter of fact, their needs called for a bit of custom development, which we provided in-house (as we always do). Well, after the launch, we received a lovely email that we’d like to share:
“I just wanted to write a quick acknowledgment/thanks that Carson did a great job on an automation project we launched today. As you know, Volusion wasn’t designed to handle a travel business that delivers its services well after an order is placed. As a result, we initially had (to) do a lot of manual back-end work in order to confirm that vendors had the inventory available and in sending customers final confirmations and instructions for meeting their tours.
Carson did a great job in delivering the project as promised, and it will be saving us a lot of non-value added administrative work. Thanks.”
Nothin’ fancy. Just us doing what we do: using our mad Volusion ninja skills to save the world, one site at a time.

Please prepare yourself for the gratuitous overuse of the word “kickass.”
We received such positive feedback from Mike Heaivilin, President and CEO of CarnalDaMMAge.com, that we asked him to write down his thoughts about his experience with Brand Labs. His response was, in a word, kickass:
“We just launched our new site designed by Brand Labs and well… ‘Kickass!’ seems to be the general consensus with everyone. Brand Labs is kickass! From the very start of this project until the launch of the web site, I felt that you guys took my vision and turned into something I could only imagine and am very proud of. It’s a good feeling when I’m getting calls from my vendors and customers telling me that I now have the most kickass! web site in the industry! You guys listened and delivered! This has been the easiest project that I ever collaborated on, from start to finish! This was a first round knock out!”
Thanks, Mike! We think you’re kickass, too.

Hey… we didn’t say it. We’re just quoting here. (Okay, we have said it, but this time we’re quoting.)
We got a lovely email today from Assaf at YCA Solar Light Store. We could selectively quote, but what the heck… let’s just show you the whole darn thing:
“The autoresponder by Brand Labs is the single best tool I’ve come across in my ecommerce business to date.
In terms of bang for your buck, you will not believe how much you get out of this tool. Our top two revenue generators are Google Adwords and the AutoResponder, and it’s close.
Clearly, sending an email 3 weeks after an item is marked shipped is the ideal time, because the purchase is fresh in their minds and with the right incentive, clients are willing to take the time to write a review. When enough reviews accumulate, conversions definitely go up.
It’s beautiful.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves (… and we totally didn’t. We swear.) Thanks, Assaf!
If you’d like to check out the Auto Responder, you may do so here. Or, just contact us and we’ll be happy to sell you the “single best tool” in the whole history of eCommerce… ever. (We did make that last part up, but it’s probably true.)

We hate to blow our own horn, but we’ll do it if we have to. Luckily, this week, that won’t be necessary. Brand Labs has been featured in the latest issue of Crain’s Detroit Business, in recognition of our entrepreneurial spirit and our ongoing success in the midst of the toughest economic conditions in decades.
Of course, we’re always happy to be mentioned in the media, but we’re a little disappointed that the words “awesome” and “mega-awesome” don’t appear anywhere in the article. We’re sure that this was simply an oversight on their part and we hope to see some sort of correction or retraction in the days to come.
You may read the entire article at CrainsDetroit.com (registration required).
UPDATE: Right now, (as of 10 am on Nov 11) our president, Kevin Harman, is attending Crain’s Salute to Entrepreneurship at U of M’s Dearborn Campus. Drop by and say hi!
