Best Volusion Tips and Tricks – Parts I & II

Posted: Wednesday, April 8, 2009 in Tips and Tricks

Technical Term Tuesday took this week off to mourn the loss of the NCAA Men’s Baskeball Championship by our beloved Michigan State Spartans, but we intend to make it up to you with a double dose of Volusion Tutorials from our in-house ninja master of technical mumbo-jumbo (and our Development Manager) Carson Reinke.

Carson is nothing if not thorough, so his Volusion tips could not be contained in something as small and trivial as a simple blog. Therefore, they’ve been filed away neatly in our knowledgebase. Links after the jump…

The first article has to do with Volusion’s Category Custom Where Clause. It’s fairly intense on the techno-speak, but when properly mastered, the Category Custom Where Clause can provide an additional level of control by adding custom SQL queries to display particular products on a category page. To learn more, please read our Volusion knowledgebase article about the Category Custom Where Clause right here.

The second new knowledgebase article from Mr. Reinke is a real gem. It’s an in-depth explanation of how Volusion handles product images. Covering everything from naming conventions to external image hosting, this information-packed piece has something for everyone, no matter what your Volusion skill level may be. To learn everything you ever wanted to know about Volusion and images, please view our Volusion product image knowledgebase article right here.

We think you’ll agree that that’s a heck of a lot to digest for a Wednesday, but Carson has a giant brain and we’ll use any opportunity to exploit it on your behalf.
