From time to time, our big-brained programmers and developers take some time out of their busy schedules to impart a bit of their encyclopedic knowledge to the Volusion community at large. Today is just such an occasion.
If you follow this link to our knowledgebase, you’ll find an excellent tutorial on just how to… ummmm… er… well… how about if I just give you a little quote that explains the whole thing. From the article:
“Sometimes you need to make changes to many of your Volusion store’s products. Volusion’s Bulk Updates capability is great, but when you have a large number of products or lots of changes to make, even this may be cumbersome.
The solution is to export the products to your computer, make your changes in a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel, and then import your products back into Volusion. Volusion covers importing and exporting quite well, so the purpose of this article is to expand on what is possible with import/export in Volusion.”
We couldn’t have said it any better. Hit the link to read the whole article…
Some time ago, we posted about how Acure Organics was doing their level best to give us type 2 diabetes to thank us for the work we’d begun on their project. Well, since that time, their new Volusion site has launched and it would be fair to say they’re pleased with our work. How do we know that for sure? Well, we’ll let them do the talking. Directly from the organic horse’s mouth comes this quote:
“Thanks! You all are the best company I have ever done business with hands down”
That seems pretty darn definitive if you ask us, but you don’t have to ask us. Go to Acure Organics and ask them… and buy some fantastic bath and body products while you’re there.
Thanks Acure and welcome to the family!

We’re very proud to announce our latest Volusion site launch: Rugged Bear.
For those who don’t ever get out to the East Coast, Rugged Bear is a long standing and beloved chain of 29 brick and mortar stores catering to New England’s outdoorsiest and most fashionable kids. Though they’ve had an online presence for some time, this new Volusion store marks a strong move to expand that presence and capitalize on their well-established local reputation as they try to capture a larger national market share. With annual sales in the tens of millions, they’re pretty well positioned to do so.
Enough business talk… look how freaking awesome this sweater is!
Sorry. Got a little sidetracked by the awesome sweater. Welcome to the Brand Labs family, Rugged Bear!

Volusion is the belle of the eCommerce ball…
That sounded wrong.
Regardless, let’s just say that Volusion is up for a bunch of trophies in the upcoming Stevie Awards (the American Business Awards) on June 21. We wish them the very best of luck!

Volusion just launched their new website and we’re pretty sure they’re hitting on us.
If you click around the site, you’ll get to see a decent amount of Brand Labs designs mixed in as examples of the sort of fantastic sites that can be created for the platform… including the most prominent example on the landing page for the Showcase Gallery itself: National Geographic UK. That’s one of ours!
Also, though they’re a bit harder to make out in the background, they’ve also included the Red Hat Society Store and EcoMowers.com, two of our oldest clients.

We mostly design online stores. That’s gotta be pretty obvious by now. We can’t shut up about it, in fact. We’re always, “Volustion store this” and “Volusion store that“. We’re sure that it gets pretty tiresome for you, so we thought we’d mix it up a bit today, and in that spirit we present Temple Adat Elohim.
Temple Adat Elohim is a temple (surprise!) It’s not a store and as a matter of fact, they don’t currently have much of anything for sale on the site. It is, however, built entirely on the Volusion platform. This move represents some serious forward-thinking on the part of the Temple. They knew that eventually, they would want to expand their online merchandise offering and by building their main site on a very versatile shopping cart, they’re ready to do so at the drop of a yarmulke.
This seems like the perfect time to point out (for those who don’t know) that our site is built on the Volusion platform. Our motivations for this move were similar to the Temple’s. We knew that eventually we would want to engage in some direct-to-consumer product sales that didn’t require the involvement of our sales staff and we wanted to be ready for that day… plus we also wanted to show off our sick Volusion skills.
So the lesson here? No matter what your current intentions are, you should always build your site on a shopping platform… specifically on Volusion.
… and would it kill you to call your mother?

Michigan is an outdoorsy state. We camp. We hike. We definitely fish. Being surrounded by the largest supply of fresh water in the world makes fishing almost a requirement. Sometimes, you’ll just be driving around Michigan, minding your own business, not really paying attention to anything in particular, when – before you know it – you’re wearing hip waders and complaining about how nothing’s biting today. That’s just how it goes around here.
This spontaneous need to fish is part of the reason we’re so pleased to present Silver Creek Outfitter’s new Volusion store. Covering everything from hunting and fishing supplies to apparel, accessories and accouterments for the avid sportsman/woman, Silver Creek is a one-stop shop for those who spend a great deal of time communing with the natural world. Just look at that shot of the website… you can almost hear the crickets and feel the dusky breeze on your face.
… that reminds us. We gotta go fishing. Welcome to the Brand Labs family, Silver Creek!
We design, develop and launch so darn many stores that every once in a while, one escapes the notice of this remorseful blogger. SupplyWays.com is just such a site.
You’ll see that under the category tags for this post, it’s listed under: Site Launches – Office Supplies, but that’s only because we don’t have an “Everything Supplies” category. Basically, if you have a business that requires supplies of any kind, Supply Ways should be able to hook you up. Healthcare, Janitorial, Manufacturing, Office… the list just goes on and on.
So, we offer a heartfelt (and belated) congratulations to SupplyWays.com on their new Volusion store!
Our latest site launch, RunSurfCity.com, is among our more unique offerings. Part brochure site, part eCommerce store, part event registration, RunSurfCity is a hybrid, running entirely on Volusion.
This content-rich site was a bit of a structural anomaly, as it revolves entirely around a single annual event. Visitors to the site can learn about the event and its history, register to participate and buy Surf City Marathon-related merchandise. If nothing else, it proves that Volusion allows for a wide range of business models and does so seamlessly (with a little assist from our custom development team).
We’re pretty excited about the site and as we sit here in Michigan, where the sun has only recently returned from its winter vacation, we’re completely seduced by the images of sandy beaches and the crystal-clear Pacific (not to mention the promise of free beer). Plus, we should probably be considering a plan to work off the goodies from our previous post. As for how the client feels about the site? We’ll let them speak for themselves:
“The Brand Labs team exceeded our very high expectations for design and custom development. We enjoyed working with the Brand Labs team and plan to utilize their services for additional store designs.”
– Don Gerould; Surf City USA Marathon
Welcome to the Brand Labs Family, Surf City! We look forward to a long and sunny relationship!
A couple of days ago, Volusion announced the upcoming introduction of their new Partners Program. In addition to being thrilled about the program itself, we were also flattered that they chose us to represent the type of partnership that they hope to build with each of the program’s members. You can read the announcement here. (Read all the way to the end to read our contribution.)
Of course, we’ve always made our feelings about Volusion pretty clear. We’ve counted and there are over 23 bazillion uses of the word Volusion scattered throughout our site and at least one member of our staff has the Volusion logo tattooed on a very private region of their body, so we’re obviously down with the V, but it’s gratifying to know that our devotion is reciprocated. How reciprocated? Well, here’s what Volusion has to say about us:
“Over the past ten years, we’ve had the privilege to develop several relationships in becoming a leading ecommerce provider. One that stands out above the rest is our partnership with Brand Labs, an indispensable asset to our community. When we launched the Volusion Partner Network, we gladly welcomed Brand Labs as an Agency Partner. We are eager to further extend our collaboration with Brand Labs into the future by focusing on what is best in helping our merchants succeed.”
James Booker – Business Development Manager – Volusion
… to be fair, we added the bold to the “indispensable asset” part, but that was our favorite bit.
We look forward to the continuation of our long and happy partnership. Thanks Volusion!
